What mesh sizes does trenk offer?

trenk galvanized hardware cloth is available in 1/2 in × 1/2 in and 1/4 in × 1/4 in square mesh openings. Please check each product page for available roll widths and lengths.

Which mesh opening should I choose?

The 1/2-inch mesh is a versatile choice for chicken runs, rabbit enclosures, garden barriers and general outdoor projects. The finer 1/4-inch mesh is better suited to raised-bed bottoms, young-tree guards and small-rodent exclusion.

What finish is available?

trenk currently offers silver galvanized welded wire mesh only. We do not currently offer a black PVC-coated version.

Can the mesh be used for chicken coops?

Yes. Galvanized hardware cloth can be fastened to wood framing to build chicken runs and coop barriers. The final protection level depends on the mesh opening, framing, fasteners and overall installation.

Can it be installed under a raised garden bed?

Yes. The 1/4-inch mesh can be laid flat beneath a raised bed before soil is added, helping discourage voles, gophers and other small digging animals.

Can it protect young trees?

Yes. Galvanized hardware cloth can be formed into a guard around a young tree trunk to reduce bark damage caused by rabbits and small rodents. Leave space between the mesh and trunk, secure the bottom and check the guard as the tree grows.

Can galvanized mesh be buried?

Yes. It can be extended below ground or folded outward to create a pest-exclusion apron. Product life may vary depending on soil moisture, drainage, climate and installation conditions.

How do I cut and install it?

Use appropriate wire cutters or tin snips. Wear protective gloves and eye protection, secure the mesh with suitable staples, screws or washers, and cover or bend back all sharp cut edges.
